Familiar faces will be representing the Trillium at the the 2019 Canadian Senior Curling Championships in Chilliwack, BC March 22-28 2019 as the Russell Curling Club’s Team Cochrane (Bryan Cochrane, Ian MacAulay, Morgan Currie and Kenneth Sullivan) won the Men’s championship while The Thornhill Club’s Team Middaugh (Sherry Middaugh, Karri-Lee Grant, Christine Loube and Jane Hooper Perroud) claimed the Women’s championship.
Both are not strangers to representing their province or even Canada – Middaugh has made 7 Scotties Tournament of Hearts appearances representing Ontario while Cochrane is the 2017 World Senior silver medalist and 2018 Canadian Seniors gold medalist.
Cochrane’s rink boasted an impressive undefeated record through the round robin and earned a direct berth to the finals as a result. They maintained their winning ways in the championship match downing Team Armstrong 8-2 in just 6 ends.
Middaugh also went through the round robin undefeated and earned a direct bye to the championship match, but met adversity vs Team Rizzo in the final. Middaugh would have to steal the 8th end to force an extra, and eventually steal again in the extra for the 6-4 win.
