For the first time since 2013, Ontario graced the podium on the national stage thanks to the efforts of John Epping, Mathew Camm, Patrick Janssen and Tim March who brought home the bronze medal at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier.
After a stellar 9-2 record through the round robin and championships rounds, Ontario took the number 2 seed in to the page playoff earning them a berth in the 1 vs 2 match vs Canada. Ontario would unfortunately lose, running in to a red hot Brad Gushue who threw 100% in the match at the skip position.
Ontario regrouped vs Alberta with a close match in the semi-final. Epping opened strong in the first with a deuce and carried a 3-2 lead in to the 5th end break. A miscue in the 7th end then led to a steal of two for Alberta to put Ontario down 5-3. Ontario would respond with a single in the 8th, but were eventually vanquished with Alberta blanking the 9th and scoring one in the 10th for a 6-4 loss; earning them the bronze medal.
Thank you for representing the province with grace and fineness, Team Epping. Congratulations on your podium finish!
