Curling Canada and the Ontario Curling Council are working together to pilot a new U15 Competition and Development Event – the U15 Challenge Cups! The OCC will operate three of these competitions on behalf of Curling Canada.
Three U15 Challenge Cups will be hosted March 30-April 1, 2018 in St. Catharines, Barrie and Ottawa.
Only 16 teams will be accepted in each location. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served bases. The U15 Challenge Cup Events are a competition for youth curlers whose maximum age is 14 years as of June 30, 2017. Any combination of players may be utilized (4 male, 4 female, or 4 mixed) and athletes may be from any CurlON or NOCA affiliated club. Teams can be of any skill level and be comprised of a variety of position players – i.e. all players will have to play all positions (therefore having a traditional skip etc) is not necessary. Out of province players are welcome, but they must come from a Curling Canada Member Association affiliated Club.
This event will be DEVELOPMENTAL in nature and will introduce curlers and their coaches to two new disciplines – Triples and Singles which will contribute to the overall development of Canadian Youth Curling in the future.
