After a hosting a CurlON giveaway sweepstakes of two (2) tickets to the Continental Cup held in London January 11-14, 2018 along with a Best Western Hotel voucher of $ 225.00 for clubs who registered to host a Hit, Draw & Tap event, we’re happy to announce that the Ennismore Curling Club is our winner.
Hit, Draw & Tap is a youth skills competition where kids aged 6-13 compete as individuals. HDT groups participants into three different age categories and perform three different shots: a “Hit,” a “Draw” and a “Tap.” The difficulty of the skills are modified based on the age of the child.
Participants will compete within their local club – and repeat each skill five times for a total score which will be compared against others in the province on a provincial leaderboard. The Top 10 curlers in each age group + ties will qualify for the Hit Draw and Tap Provincial Championship to be held in Huntsville on Saturday, February 3, 2018 as part of the 2018 Recharge with Milk Men’s Tankard.
The Hit, Draw & Tap youth program has been running in Ontario for three years with an annual participation of 45 clubs. CurlON is working to improve club participation as this program is now officially become a full property of Curling Canada and they are looking to expand the program across the country. Eventually provincial winners will attend one of the National Championships to compete against the rest of the Member Associations.
