After 16 exciting draws in Cobourg, the playoff picture is clear Friday night.
Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts
In Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts action, Team Harrison (6-1) finished first overall in the round robin, in part due to a big early win over Team Homan. Harrison advances straight to Sunday’s championship final, to be played at 12:30pm at the Cobourg Community Centre.
With their second place finish, Team Homan (5-2) secured their place in the Women’s Semi-Final Saturday at 9:00am. Their opposition in the semi-final needed a tie-breaker to be decided.
Team Flaxey (4-3) and Team Auld (4-3) finished the round robin with identical records, needing a tie-breaker to decide the 3rd playoff spot. Team Flaxey kept her playoff hopes alive Friday afternoon with a big 7-4 victory over Team Homan, while Team Auld improved to 4-3 when her opposition’s last rock slid too far in the 10th end.
It was Auld who dominated in the tie-breaker, leading to a 10-4 win after 9 ends. Auld moves on to face Team Homan in the Scotties semi-final Saturday at 9:00am.

With only one loss on the week, Team Epping (8-1) finished first overall securing their spot in the 1 v 2 page playoff game Saturday at 2:00pm.
The remaining playoff standings took until late Friday night to be decided, with every game on the ice having playoff implications.
Team Bailey, having beat Team Heggestad in the afternoon draw, knew they had secured a playoff berth, but awaited the results of the Howard/Maus game to learn their seeding. Team Howard (6-3) powered through the evening draw, defeating Team Maus 9-2 and earning themselves a spot in the 1 v 2 game.
Due to Howard’s round robin win over Team Bailey (6-3), Bailey finished 3rd in the standings and will face the fourth seeded team in the 3 v 4 game Saturday at 7:00pm.
Going into Friday evening, four teams could finish the week at (5-4), leading to a multiple tie-breaker situation. With the loss to Howard, Team Maus fell to (5-4) while Team Balsdon improved to 5-4 thanks to a win over Team Harris (1-8) and Team Tuck (5-4) gained their spot in the tiebreakers with a win over Team Deruelle (3-6).
Due to Team Tuck’s round robin wins over both Team Maus and Team Balsdon, they received the bye to the second tiebreaker to be played Saturday at 2:00pm. Team Maus and Team Balsdon will face off Saturday morning at 9:00am in the first tiebreaker, winner to advance to play Tuck.
The winner of the second tiebreaker will face Team Bailey in the 3 v 4 page playoff game Saturday at 7:00pm.
It’s set up to be an action packed weekend in Cobourg as two Ontario Champions await to be crowned. Weekend games will be streamed live on Title Sports Live.
