After an extensive online voting campaign rallying curling fans worldwide, the members of team John Epping have won the rights to compete in the inaugural Everest Curling Challenge for a cash purse of $200,000.
The mixed style event, which will see 32 players break off from their regular lineups and sorted in to temporary teams, will take place in Fredericton NB on August 25-27 in front of a sold out crowd.
John Epping, who alongside teammates Tim March, Mat Camm and Pat Janssen of the Leaside Curling Club, will complete the Ontario representation with the Ottawa Curling Club’s Team Homan who received an invite to the event.
On the women’s side, the fan vote was won by team Victoria Moiseeva of Russia who beat out the only other Ontario representative in team Allison Flaxey of the Guelph Curling Club.
Best of luck to all competitors!
